Job Requirements:

Prepares special products such as freezing of RBC, deglycerolization of frozen RBC, washed platelets and washing of RBC. Offers input and technical advice to member hospitals based on individual level of Immunohematology experience and knowledge.  Performs searches for antigen screened units, performs testing and cross matching, and distributes to hospitals upon request. Also performs other tasks as required. Call rotation included. 

Special Requirements:

(Licenses, degrees held, related experience): MLT or MT (ASCP certified) and one year related specialized experience.  Candidates must meet CLIA requirements for high complexity testing and may need to provide college transcripts for review. 

Skills:  Capable of utilizing laboratory equipment for advanced and/or highly specialized testing with a level of understanding that is demonstrated by experience and/or theoretical knowledge gained by credentials and immuno specialization. Maintains SOPs, quality control spreadsheets, and reviews quality control performed by the Quality Control Techs. Will be involved with staff education and competency observations.

In addition, is responsible for assisting Donor Services with overseeing and maintaining PocHi equipment at all subcenters. This includes new lots of QC, troubleshooting, calibration, validation and needed periodic maintenance as well as assisting with Donor Services staff education and training. Maintains related PocHi SOP’s, quality control spreadsheets and reviews all related documents.

Must possess knowledge of lab and quality assurance principles and regulations.  Will be expected to adhere to the lab’s established quality control policies and follow safety procedures and must demonstrate competency and proficiency in testing procedures to ensure cGMPs of Heartland’s products.  Will communicate with all levels of personnel at Heartland Blood Centers
